As a specialty manufacturer,
this client uses incentives extensively to capture the
attention of its dealer base to stimulate sales.
The annual "Shopping Spree Incentive" targets dealership
principals and is highly sought after. It combines a weekend
getaway with glamorous, upscale shopping. Dealers earn
points that accrue as "shopping credits" for use during
a shopping event scheduled just prior to Christmas.
For years, the event
was held in an upscale mall where dealers spent their
winnings using customized checkbooks. Cypress decided
to recommend a different twist by arranging for winners
to spend their shopping credits using a pre-paid VISA
debit card along Beverly Hills' world-famous Rodeo Drive!
As an added bonus, Cypress persuaded the Rodeo Drive Merchants
Association to donate nearly $50,000 in retailer "gifts"
for pre-trip mailers as well as turndown gifts for winners
on-site.
Cypress then combined the sumptuous Beverly Wilshire Hotel
within the campaign promoting the entire event as a dealer's
"Street of Dreams!" The top 100 dealers and spouses enjoyed
an upscale three-day weekend with a full-day shopping
event along Rodeo Drive.
This particular "Shopping
Spree" helped the company achieve the "best year-over-year
sales increase in history" with one model "exceeding our
sales plan by the greatest percentage of any of our vehicle
lines after languishing longer than anyone would have
liked."
For veterans of past Shopping Spree incentives, the Rodeo
Drive experience, was a real hit! The change in venue
helped to sustain rising demand for the company's products
and build expectations for continuing the Shopping Spree.
